There is nothing else that can compare to GLP-1 drugs such as semaglutide

Elon Musk has been appointed as the co head of the newly established Department of Government Efficiency in the administration of newly elected President Donald Trump. He publicly expressed his support for weight loss drugs on Wednesday, December 11th.

"Nothing can improve the health, life span and quality of life of Americans better than making [GLP-1 drug] extremely cheap for the public. Nothing else can compare to it, "Musk wrote in his post on X.

However, after Musk supported GLP-1 drugs, Robert Kennedy (RFK Jr.) expressed a slightly different view on his previous remarks in a television interview at the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday, stating that weight loss drugs may "ultimately have a place. The first line of defense should be lifestyle, eating well to ensure you don't become obese, and those GLP-1 drugs should have a place, "he said.

As the head of the Department of Health and Human Services, Robert Kennedy will supervise institutions such as Medicare and Medicaid, which manage the health insurance of millions of Americans, and the Food and Drug Administration, which is responsible for approving new drugs or expanding the use of existing drugs, if they are proved to be safe and effective.

This is not the first time Musk has expressed support for the use of these popular therapies. In 2022, he posted on X claiming that he had used Wegovy. Recently, he agreed with Senator Bernie Sanders' efforts to reduce the cost of expensive GLP-1 drugs.
